These boards have been used in the configuration of mining farms not once to produce cryptocurrencies, and that is why they are the most reliable choice for this purpose. About ASRock boards

ASRock Company offers a great deal of BTC-motherboards models that are designed for mining-rig assembling based on different CPU (Intel or AMD). Besides, there are a lot of not-BTC motherboards that can also be used for the creation of rigs. But choosing the latter you should know that in such boards some slots could be out of reach due to the peculiarities of their location.

When it comes to motherboards for mining, the following things are important:

  • PCI-E pinout configuration;
  • The possibility to use them with cheap dual-core processors;
  • Absence of those technologies, that are not necessary in mining (for example, various features for gamers);
  • Affordable price.

The advantage of BTC series motherboards from ASRock is that they are equipped with some special features, which miners find very useful. For example, they can be powered via PCI-E, and also there are special slots for additional power from the power supply. Also, they are designed in a way that doesn’t allow sharing PCI-E lines with other external hardware, namely network cards, sound cards, memory controllers, USB-hubs, which can negatively influence the mining performance. Such motherboards for mining provide only the basic functionality, but at the same time they ensure uninterrupted and stable operation under high loads and temperatures.

Unfortunately, those motherboards that work with six video cards are compatible only with Intel 1150 and 1155 pins. And nowadays there are no motherboards for AMD FM2 or the new Intel 1151 pin that can operate with 6 graphics cards. No doubts that different manufacturers have enthusiast-targeted products, which can accommodate six video cards, but they will hardly suit the miners because of the high cost. As a matter of fact, it is more rational to spend extra money on additional graphics cards to expand the rig.

The best option for cryptocurrency miners will be buying a cheap motherboard with an inexpensive processor, but with expensive graphics cards, as the mining performance and hashrate will depend exactly on the latter. AsRock H81 PRO BTC R2.0 (s1150, Intel H81) was designed specially for mining, and it does not have any unnecessary or expensive functions and technologies, due to which it is an ideal choice when assembling the system for cryptocurrency production. The most important feature of AsRock H81 PRO BTC R2.0 (s1150, Intel H81) motherboard for miners is the presence of six independent slots for the installation of discrete graphics cards, though the fully-featured adapter can be installed only in PCI Express 2.0 x16 slot, and for the remaining five slots you will need to buy a riser-extension cable, which is not a problem today.

Motherboards that support 12 graphics cards

Biostar TB250-BTC TB250 1151 DDR4

PCIe slots in ASRock H110 Pro BTC+ board are located in one row with a seal. This creates a risk of a short circuit in case of a connector tilting. Biostar TB250-BTC PRO board employs a different approach, since the slots are located in two rows, except for a standard PCI Express 3.0 x16 slot. When slots are arranged this way, it is very convenient to connect video cards and there is no risk at all.

PCI Express 3.0 x16 slot gets all PCIe lines from the processor. Every other slot is connected on the same PCI Express 3.0 x1 line to the Intel B250 South Bridge. Thus, this ensures a “natural” connection of video cards to the system without any bridges or swithes.

The Biostar TB250-BTC PRO board can be equipped with Intel 1151 processor with TDP up to 95 watts. Two slots with support up to DDR4-2400 (32 GB only) are provided for memory.
